Following England’s defeat at the final of Euro 2020 at the weekend, many players on the team and in particular Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Bukayo Saka have received a torrent of racist abuse.

Like so many in public life, I have experienced this type of abuse first-hand and yesterday I penned an open letter to the England squad expressing my solidarity and support.

It is time the Government to put their words in action and introduced meaningful regulation of social media platforms.
