Recently, the MP for Fareham was delighted to convene the Solent Business Forum, where local business professionals were able to hear from guest speaker Detective Superintendent Andy Richardson. Andy Richardson is the Director of the Cyber Resilience Centre South East which supports SMEs to ensure they are cyber-secure. Mr Richardson was able to offer businesses guidance on assessing threats, using more secure passwords, protecting sensitive information, and preventing cyber-attacks.
Suella was also pleased to speak on cybersecurity, outlining her plan to convene a Solent cybersecurity forum in the new year. Similarly, following the recent COP26 summit and the landmark Glasgow agreement, Suella spoke to local business leaders about the implications of net zero for SMEs. She was pleased to hear of local efforts to decarbonise and the important steps local businesses have been taking to be more transparent about their actions to tackle climate change. Following on from her speech at the Solent Business Forum, Suella would like to invite anyone interested to attend the online Hampshire COP26 summit, which can be signed up to via Eventbrite.
Events like the Solent Business Forum are important spaces for professionals to share expertise, insights, and ideas. Suella would like anyone interested in signing up to the next event to email her directly and will also be holding a separate event on Friday the 26th November in collaboration with Google. This virtual Google Digital Garage will offer a workshop opportunity for local businesses to streamline systems and gain insights from experts on digital marketing strategies. Interested parties can sign up via the link on Suella’s social media.
Commenting, Suella Said:
“It was amazing to see such a high turnout of business owners at the Solent Business Forum at the Lysses House Hotel in Fareham. I want to offer a special thanks to all those who attended and to Tim and Annemarie Geoghegan for helping to co-ordinate the event with me. I am proud to be part of a Government committed to supporting entrepreneurship and commerciality and it is truly inspiring to see the breadth and depth of local business expertise we have right here in the constituency.”
